The universal languages at home in the Alexander - von - Humboldt Oberschule

On June 17th the departments of English, French, Russian and Latin arranged the “Fremdsprachentag”.  “School Town” was one of six different stations. This event tested the English language skills of the 7th graders from our school. Students of the English advanced course and of the “Profilkurs” English arranged with the help of their teachers around 10 stations in the gym for our newcomers. Every station had its own topic. One station was built up like a supermarket, another one represented an airport. The 7th graders had to go to every station and according to what the station's topic was, the student got a question. Due to the quality of the answer the student got minus one, one, two or three points. Minus one point was just given if the student rejected to do his task, which happened pretty seldom. Most of the time the students earned two points. The aim of every student was to achieve the highest number of points as possible from every departure. At the end of the day the students with the highest scores won prices like a 15€ coupon for a movie theatre.
All in all the day was a whole success. Most of the 7th graders seemed to enjoy this challenge and gave their best. The outcome of the day at our station “School Town” was that the English skills among the many different students varied a lot.
